Well last I heard SAS 9.2 – Phase 2, was still due Q1 2009 (anybody heard otherwise?).
So one month and a bit to go.
The Team from SAS Australasia are doing SAS 9.2 overviews at the New Zealand User group conference on 27th Feburary (checkout the impressive sponsors, especially top right
.
And Bill Gibson is doing the open session, should have a lot more insight on 9.2 after those.
There are rumours we might even see some 9.2 based solutions released this year, can’t wait!
So are you preparing to upgrade to SAS 9.2 this year? Leave a comment and let me know!
unofficially – release is going to be Feb 28th.
we are planning to migrate, and as SAS platform manager in our organisation, I know how long/painful it will be. We have a number of architectural changes to implement, but more significantly the metadata structure changes on the server, cause a requirement to release client software at the same time, and also we have to migrate 32bit SAS db’s to 64bit versions. Managing this through our server environments, and for a large user base will be non-trivial.
Thanks for the Info.
We are running the NZ SAS Users Conference on the 27th, damn missed by a day (and a few timezones)
And yes heard that the 9.1 clients were not compatible with 9.2 environment so mandatory desktop upgrade, plus only XP and Vista is supported (and its surprising how many Windows 2000/NT client environments still exist)
Also heard that Portal Pages won’t be migrated as part of the upgrade, now its a pain in the bum not being able to migrate themn from Dev > UAT > Prod at the moment, but losing them as part of the upgrade is diabolical (somebody from SAS please post that I am wrong here)
We have been planning to build a tool to migrate Portal content rolm Dev > UAT > Prod, but wanted to wait to see what was in 9.2.
Looks like it might be worth doing ti sooner than later.
